Christmas Countdown; 35 sleeps… Spiced chai powder.

Today’s post is a recipe originally based on one for Deluxe instant chai tea by CakeyVoice, which is delicious so have a peep.

My version is not Chai tea, however, it is something that can be added to hot milk, to white tea or even to boiled water (perhaps with a splash of milk). The festive Chai spices are deliciously soothing and I find that a couple of heaped teaspoons mixed with a mug of hot milk make a fabulous bedtime drink…

Spiced Chai powder for milk

Ingredients

a cup of sugar
a cup and a half of coffee creamer

and the following ground spices;
3 tsp cinnamon
2tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp cardamom
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp very fine white pepper
a few drops of vanilla extract

Method;

All you have to do is mix the ingredients together well; sifting them is an ideal way to combine them really well and also removes any lumps (especially if you ground the spices yourself as I like to) pop the mixture in a jar with a pretty ribbon and instructions for a lovely little gift or just enjoy it all yourself – you will have a better flavour if you leave it to steep for a few minutes before drinking…

yum yum!
